Special Exhibitions x Emma Agarwood

Emma Agarwood had the honor of participating in several unique exhibitions, showcasing contemporary art and agarwood through creative collaborations with renowned artists. Here are some of our standout exhibitions.

Peinture moderne en collaboration avec le bois d'agar
“Inner Balance” exhibition at VIVIR Jiaoxi

Everyone remembers the special exhibition in Jiaoxi, where four oil paintings on Agarwood were displayed, created in collaboration with contemporary artist Chang Ling. These colorful works represent the emotional journey of Emma Zhou, founder of Emma Agarwood, during her 30 years of collecting Agarwood in tropical rainforests.

The inspiration for this exhibition stems from a deep love for Agarwood and the hard work involved in gathering it from remote and challenging locations. As the poet Tagore once wrote, wounds always heal— a metaphor for the scars left by these difficult experiences and the new strength that emerges from them.

- Exposed Artwork
  • 4 Hanging Paintings: Created on boards cut from the trunk of Agarwood trees, these works depict the history and scars of Agarwood collection, while preserving the natural bark on the back of each board.

  • 3 Wall Paintings: The artist observed three precious pieces of Agarwood and expressed through their art the gentleness and regenerative power of the wood after its wounds, symbolizing the healing of both physical and emotional scars.

Design Concept
- “Parallel Universe”

One of the key artistic concepts presented during the exhibition is that of the "Parallel Universe", where two distinct worlds meet without ever truly intersecting. This idea is symbolized by the use of two Agarwood branches in a Yin and Yang lamp design.

The branches, sourced from two different regions, were treated using a carbonization

technique, creating irregular surfaces that evoke the process of burning as a

form of wounding.

The lamp is supported by elements from the British brand Buster & Punch,

featuring a sleek design where traditional cables are replaced with conductive steel

wires, perfectly blending modernity with Eastern tradition.

Super Leisure Lifestyle Show 2020 - Kaohsiung
Exhibition of various artistic pieces representing modern life and the values of Emma Agarwood.

In 2020, during the Super Leisure Lifestyle Show, Emma Agarwood collaborated with international curator Emerson Wang and artist Chang Ling to express a simple and natural concept: "Boutique and Natural Life Aesthetics." This exhibition was inspired by ancient Europeans and their refined creations, such as sculptures and vases, while incorporating natural products like Agarwood for home and garden decoration.

Agarwood, a symbol of Oriental elegance, has proven that it can seamlessly integrate into both interior and exterior spaces, drawing on ancient and contemporary life aesthetics. It offers a simple and natural way to elevate everyday life.
